Caroline

Hehe....that's my "new" name which some of the teachers know me by. Heh, and it was a teacher who gave me that name cos she said it was too difficult for her to remember and pronounce my name. So ta-da....and it has caught on with quite a number of teachers... :) Gosh, I'm so amused by them. They really do the darndest things some times; not only the kids.

Let me relate to you what actually happened. We were having lunch in the canteen today when an ex-contract teacher came back to the school to visit, so he joined us at our table for lunch too. So I was like "Who's that?", then one of the teachers said "Oh, he was a contract teacher in our school. He is now in NIE." Thereafter, I don't really know what had gotten into their heads, they started to "matchmake" me with that guy!! I thought it was really incredulous...and it all started when this teacher friend, all of 27 years, married, started to say "I wonder if he's single. Go and make friends with him lah." I was speechless. I didn't even know that she was this "playful". I always thought she was so prim and proper....sigh. Another teacher added oil to the fire by saying, "So you want me to introduce you to him or not?" Wah....I really almost died from laughing lor... lolz.

Today....was ok i guess. I'm beginning to feel an affinity to my class. They are like my "bao beis"....and everytime I relieve another P3 class, I always thank God that I didn't have that class. I don't know, i think its quite strange. Its like I can't imagine myself teaching another class besides my class. They are the sweetest things on earth when they do things which are totally out of the blue or impromptu. Haiz....

exam stress

Me sitting for exams? No, of course not....if you have been following my blog closely, the stress stems from the students' CAs which have just ended today. Had lots of marking to do and lots of time was spent deciding on how many marks were to be awarded to different answers. Had to standardise our marking as a whole level. Whoever thought that teaching was an easy job? As a result, it brought about mood swings which were unsuppressable. One minute I was relaxed and happy, the next minute my head was bursting as my brain contemplated on decisions to accept all kinds of answers not stated in the marking scheme. Thank goodness all these madness is gonna end soon....Well, at least I hope so.

O Happy day...

Hehe....I don't know what I'm so happy about but yeah....I'm in a good mood. :) I found out today that being busy is actually good.... It just feels good being productive. Though you will obviously feel the after-effects of it probably much later. Really did LOTS OF things today.....and whee....my hamsters look fresh! They are so cute and tame...aiyah....must make a mental note to play with them more often.

Anyways, caught Singapore Idol and I must say, it was hilariously funny!! Lolz...but a few contestants caught my eye and I'll be following them closely in the next round.... Yep.

Looks like my little reprieve from school will not come anytime soon cos there'll be lots of marking to be done this week....test papers and all. Its gonna be a long week....Still gotta go back to sch on sat for marking of gifted screening papers. Darn. Can't wait for the Sept hols to come!! Oh yar, speaking of Sept, my b'dae's coming soon. Yeah! So should I or should I not go for the teachers' day outing on 1st Sept? I wanna have a life!!! I mean not that hanging out with the teachers is not fun, I should think I will have a great time but I haven't met my friends in a loooong time! Hmph! Dilemna. I hate them.

Pm Lee's rally speech is going on now. Going back to my telly now. Guess the next time u'll see an update will be next weekend. Heh.

Hmmnz....

Ok first things first...the tags are really freaking me out....I have no idea who the person is!!! So whoever you are, please spare me the agony and reveal your identity soon. Thanks a million. My head's bursting.

On another note altogether, 3 weeks have flown by and I have spent that amount of time teaching a class who is academically average to below-average. I must say that though life as a teacher is really busy, there are moments of joy as well; and that is what makes the teaching profession such a special one. To keep yourself sane, you must set aside time for yourself, and not let the student-related matters interfere with your life.
You must also constantly remind yourself the reason why you decided to teach in the first place and always have an open mind, or else you will become jaded very quickly.
So far, what's made me enjoy teaching in WSPS is without doubt, the teachers. They are a crazy bunch and most are rather friendly. Easy to relate with as well. To my pleasant surprise, most of the teachers are also Christians(except for the muslims, indians); at least in the PM session. So in this aspect, I feel really blessed.
Thank God I have managed to control the class most of the time, and some of the students are really endearing 'cos of their funny antics, helpfullness or their plain innocence. Sigh....they are really funny when they are not pissing you off.
Oh wellz, CAs start next week and I'm worried for them. Hope there will be updates soon.

a quick update

Wow....I can already see the mould forming on this blog....sigh. Sorry peeps...have been really busy....though I can't really put my finger on the specifics....but i guess mainly teaching the bunch of kids and the long weekend which had just passed. Hehe....the teaching's been fine so far, kids have shown some discipline though of course there's room for improvement. Academics wise....I really don't know. I'm just hoping that they pass all their subjects in CA2. So far I can only see that their english is rather weak. And I'm behind in marking......oh no....help....

What's more, I have to be in skool early in the morning tomorrow!!!! AAAHHH....my beauty sleep..... Think I'm gonna be a zombie tomorrow. And I can't believe that I actually washed dishes, vacuumed and mopped the floor in the span of one and a half hours....immediately after I had my dinner.

Oh yah....on another note, I really think I'm a jinx cos' everytime we drive back to Singapore from Malacca, we never fail to be caught for speeding. Gosh.....and guess what? We paid them off with just RM40. Hahaha....i tell you, they just want your money....its gonna be much more of a hassle if they issue a summon cos you have to go to a police station to pay the fine.

Okies....hope there will be another update soon....and a more detailed one. Gtg zzzzz now... ciao.
