Christmas :)
These past few days spent outside of home has been a blast! The Christmas spirit is really infectious, what with the crowds thronging the heart of the city....Orchard Road. People buying gifts for their loved ones...preparing for Christmas Eve parties. Besides, its a great time to meet up with friends/ex-classmates too! Especially it being the end of the year, where many are back from overseas. But families like mine, who don't exactly celebrate Christmas, we don't need to buy gifts.... we just need to turn up at my uncle's place on Christmas Eve for a get-together dinner of sorts. So what exactly am I doing in town? Shopping for CNY clothes of course! (I can see you smiling, XM.) Yes, actually, CNY is just 1 month away...its not too far away... so yup. I might not have time when school reopens anyway... and shopping for New Year clothes together with the rest of Singapore is something which I don't look forward to. Haha... So anyway, spent quite a bit....but mum sponsored the pair of prettiest shoes I have seen!! So I'm a happy girl! You see, I have very broad feet...so its a big headache to find shoes that actually fit the shape of my feet. I am not blessed with small and slender feet like many other petite-sized girls... so, to find a shoe brand which actually has shoes which fit perfectly is like a Godsend! Its called Sole Lovers...it only has an outlet at Robinson's Raffles City. So, my New year shopping is accomplished! Also, the four of us met yesterday....after a year! I can forsee that it is going to be a yearly event, with the 3 of them being overseas for their studies...and tonight, we are going to have a Sec 2/4 class gathering! Woohoo! Can't wait to see the others...:) Other gatherings coming up are the [SA]ilors and 02S83 class gathering...so many!! Then after that, it'll signal the end of 2005 and the start of 2006 and the new semester at NIE. Sigh. Time passes really quickly...
On another note...I'm missing my cousin who's in China....and my bro who's in Brisbane. They won't be back till like the 1st week of Jan! *sulks*

Splurged!
Today was a day spent outside with my mum. I simply love her to bits. :) The day was quite fruitful though...sent my bro off to Aussie, then made our way down to Kembangan to visit Ah-Kong who's such a dear, then we went shopping! Oh boy, it was quite unbelieveable...my mum and I each bought pieces of clothing which cost the same! Imagine that! But, she got a really pretty dress, while I purchased a pretty skirt from S.Oliver... so I'm not really complaining though I splurged a considerable amount of my bonus on the skirt, but it was too lovely to ignore!! Hehehe... Then after that, went to woodlands to get the textbooks for my bro, and then we went back to TM for coffee and more shopping!! It was madness I must say, the things my mum can crap about...wahahaha.However, on another painful note, my back is hurting again. I have no idea why though. Sigh...hope it goes away soon. :( Hmnz...hols are coming to an end! Darn....

A welcomed breather
Finally, 10 days of hectic work has ended...alright, not so much of hectic work, but just purely lots of time spent out of home... Finally, I can take a break and do other stuff. Like spending some money... :) All in all, I must say that the camp was a success, and I think that the objectives were achieved, despite the numerous change of plans. Now comes the presentation... Heh. Anyway, I'd much rather I was busy rather than lazing around with nothing to do. Life would be so meaningless. Alright, off to get some dinner.Friday, December 09, 2005
Of beer, long flights of stairs and old men
Haha...funny title huh? I must say, the trip was quite enjoyable lah. Albeit the little hiccups like asking the sailors to pay for boat charter when it was initially considered to be free... and my first time in a protest room. Right...maybe I should just start off by blogging about the highs of the trip first. There were about 8 race officers and 3 other officials from Singapore who were invited to help organise and manage the races. You could say we were treated quite well there as we were seen to be experienced and it was a learning experience for the officials from Indonesia sailing federation. So everything was taken care of, from the accomodation to the food and the allowance we got for 3 days of work done. I must say that we were well taken care of lah. Furthermore, the committee boat was a navy patrol boat which kept us really dry, unlike the dynaglass boats we use in S'pore. Haha... so that was a plus. And I did not have to lift a finger to pull up marks or drop anchor as we had the navy guys to do those tasks. Haha, I was just in charge of recording. That's all. :) By the way, this regatta was organised by the navy so that was why we could make use of their resources.
The comapny was also great. We were given one "house", 2 storeys, 2 rooms upstairs and 1 room downstairs. Being a lady also has its privileges. There were 2 of us, so we were given the priority to pick the rooms of our choice. So we chose the biggest room. Wahaha...so spacious and we had a bathtub too. :) Oh well...we had a great diversity of characters living together so it was a lot of fun. Of course with Uncle George, its hilarious! Lol. For the first time, I drank the most beer in one night. One and a half cans...and we had a great time just listening to his stories...most of which I had heard before. Lots of jokes and laughter too. It was damn funny lah...listening to Huzaini spout nonsense when he's stoned. Wed night we had seafood which cost only about 13 bucks per pax!!! It was freaking cheap! And the crab was marvellicious! So the reggatta ended with a closing ceremony where there was good food, long speeches and surprising finds! The race officials could sing particularly well! Especially the Indonesian people.
It was quite a good experience on the whole. I had lots of fun, was exposed to a different way of conducting races over in Batam, and met many interesting charcters. Learnt a lot from the old hands too. But the long flights of steps back to the chalet was a killer. Can you imagine, walking up a long flight of stairs at night, with almost no lighting, on a full stomach? Wow. That was... exhausting. It was no joke man. Well, I'm sure that there will be more like this to come. I think I'm going for a nap now.... feeling tired. Ciaoz.
Back!
Ah...I'm finally home! I miss my bed, the computer and the tv. Hahaha.... anyway before I summarise about my trip, I shall blog about the going-ons which I missed this past 5 days. For one, heard that a GM left sports school due to poor work performance. That was a surprise, but no one really knows why he left/sacked. After all, the reasons are being speculated. Number 2, apparently one girl has already left the school because of dunnoe wat, and another is leaving because of another schoolmate who just joined. Hmnz....those were pretty interesting news. Number 3, I missed the welcoming back of Sailing team on tues night at the airport, and by the looks of what's left on the coffee table, they had some fun I think. :) I was blog-surfing just now and I read somewhere that the money that sports council gives to gold medal winners does not completely go to the athletes. Apparently, a certain percentage is given to the NSA! Wah! Got such thing meh? Is it a policy for all NSAs or just that certain NSA? Hmnz...weird. Why shouldn't the athlete get to keep all the money? SAiling, sailing and more sailing. Sigh.... the politics that surround it all. Then, I came home to find out an email barrage. All I can say that the matter should have been settled privately, and should not have been circulated around. Its like washing dirty linen in public.
Latest news, my aunt is hospitalised as she had fits. No one seems to know the cause though. Might visit her later. Oh well... these are the stuff I missed while I was away. Oh yeah, just remembered, former PM Devan Nair has passed away too. Saw it on CNA in Batam. Will post later about my first "overseas" trip as a race officer. Haha.

Eh...I'm kinda behinning to hate writing titles for my posts. Anyway, my bro's school year has finally ended and is on the way home now... just received his overall results for the year. He is up for 2 awards as he was top in history and physics for all 8 modules. Woohoo! No mean feat though...as he is considered to be the top boy in academics. However, on the whole, 3 girls fared better than him. Sigh...they are really good. So yup, never thought I would say this, but I'm rather proud of him. Heh. Hope he can do well in the next 3 days of racing against the likes of cai, colin, vic and many others. Fingers crossed. My weak heart cannot take too many shocks. Haha...
Been following the SEA Games and as usual, swimming has delivered as promised. And there were many young faces coming up so that bodes well for our future. The other team worth mentioning is our gymnastics team who has done a great job at the games. Bowling was very disappointing though. Nothing more to say about that. Sailing....well, some are doing very well, particularly our girls' 420 pair and our 470 pair, and gris in the optimist. Boys are having a bit of a tougher time, with our hobies and 420s and opti sailor teetering in 2nd position, maxi and 470 pair in third currently. Hope they can finish strongly.
Oh well, next 10-12 days will be occupied with activities...so won't be updating so soon. Will update maybe when I come back from batam on the 9th. Ciaoz.
