A mini road trip?

I had a wonderful evening. Firstly, I had dinner with Jac. As always, we decided to meet at Taka where it was a food haven. We had our dinner, then proceeded to Kino....(as usual). :P Heh...It has become some sort of a ritual... Then Jac received an sms from her parents saying that they are having dinner at Taka and asks us to join them for some dessert. Again, I could not refuse the offer though I was kinda reluctant to go. My reluctance is attributed to the fact that I had to meet her father who is a little intimidating. :] It takes some getting used to his style of talking. But I must say it went rather well tonight on the whole. Something which was 'out of the ordinary' was that Jac's mum offered to send me home. I was in some way honoured and touched because this was the first time she offered, so it was an offer I could not refuse. Now comes the exciting part, Jane decides to beam her songs from the Ipod to an empty 'radio station' in the car. And Jac decides to play Daniel Powter's Bad Day. The 3 of us belted out the whole song!! It was quite a sight....even J's father could not resist the temptation and joined us at the end of the song. Hahaha...It was quite cool... The whole thing was quite infectious... I had a great time.

The point is, I'm blessed to have a friend in Jac. Our friendship has lasted 7-8 years and has gone through its fair share of ups and downs. Our friendship is so unique, I wouldn't exchange it for anything else in the world. Cos half the time, she is at the other side of the world, pursuing her own life and dreams, and when she comes back, we pick up where we left off. Its incredible...and I'm thankful for her. So, here's to the memories that we share, and the memories to come!

whee

Its the end of week one and the start of a 'long' holiday....cos monday is youth day! That means no school! Yippee...its back to the sun for me this weekend... double whoopee! I think you can sense my elation already... Sch has been ok, but kinda boring...hoping things will go smoothly when they get into full swing next week.

Made a wasted trip down to CGH just now simply cos it has a stupid policy of locking their main doors of the ward after visiting hours. Grr..... Grandpa's admitted to hospital cos of pneumonia again. Haven't visited him in a long ti....really miss him. Sigh....

Anyway, meeting Jac later for dinner... Looking forward!

2 great dinners and the first day at school

Oh yeah...I passed my ppcdl prac!! Woohoo! I can now drive a powerboat legally.... :) Tester was very nice.. Thank goodness.

So Saturday's dinner was great....as in the food was not so great but company was superb....as usual. We had lots of laughter., as usual. :) NIce to see everyone who was there... Dinner on Sunday was my treat at our favourite restaurant, the tiong bahru seafood/steamboat restaurant. Food was delicious, didn't over-order for once. Heh.

So, first day at school today...Mixed vibes but generally quite happy with most of the stuff. Think some teachers were having first-day-of-school-blues.... They looked quite stern and unfriendly which was a contradiction to what my friend told me....so we'll see how it goes. And today marked my first time punching in my time card. Haha...

end of hol season/back to work

Yeah....the hols passed by really quickly. In the blink of an eye, its time to get back to the grind. No more slacking in a boat out at sea and suntanning. Heh... Oh well...its the end of the regatta season and everyone is preparing to go back to school. Before that, I still have my ppcdl prac to pass before I can start worrying about school. Sigh... Hope all goes well tomorrow....need to tell myself I can do it, now that I kinda know what to expect. Need to read up tonight...

On a side note, the wind has been so good to us that for the first time, a 5-day regatta is ending 1 day earlier than scheduled. Its a rarity man.... If only the wind was this good for Asia Pac which had just ended on 14 june. Stupid wind....grrr.....

Went shopping for some blouses for work on Mon with a friend....very productive indeed. Haha... now I have another shopping kaki for work clothes. Similar tastes too.... :)

Ok, gotta go mug now. Looking forward to dinner tomorrow. :)

near total disaster

A definite sign of nervousness and panic is a dry mouth. I was so nervous that my mouth felt dry and I felt hot. Gosh, there was simply no one to blame but myself. And a bit of my luck. It was frustrating....but I can't blame anyone else, can I? Maybe I should have been less confident, and more indifferent. But, my berthing was perfect. What good could it do? Just a little boost to the already battered self esteem maybe....but definitely not a saving grace. Argh. In case you don't know what I'm talking about, I failed my ppcdl practical boat handling. I just wanna cry. Leave me alone.

darker

Have not been updating eh? I have been busy....earning a little extra cash....to fund my shopping spree when I have the time. Hehe...to date, my only purchase this GSS is a black converse jacket with green trimming at 20% off normal price. Yay, I have another jacket to keep me warm during lectures and tutorials!! Helped out at 2 regattas over the last ten days or so... The Asia Pac Championships was a big event, an eye-opener as to how an international event was run. A whole lot of manpower was involved....with around a 100 people involved everyday. Yepyep... it was interesting to watch the competitors fight it out in every race... Oh well, its finally over and I can take a breather till sunday. I'm taking my powerboat practical test on Saturday and I'm a little apprehensive... Hopefully after the refresher course this evening, they will disappear. Heh. Then I'll have monday and tuesday off, then its back to the sea on wed to sunday. Sigh. I was so tired that I took a 2 hour nap just now to replenish the energy lost to the sun in the past week.

The holidays have passed by so quickly, and when its over, I have to be back in school teaching for 5 weeks before my semester at NIE starts again. Oh, did I mention that I passed the PPCDL theory test the first time with a score of 29/30?? Haha. For your info, the passing mark is 26. Yup.

Thank goodness for the results...average is a little worse than last sem...but I'm still quite satisfied. But I think I really have to work harder next sem. Thank goodness there are no Cs this time though... :)

Dad just got home from the hospital...had a bad case of bronchitis....aggravated by a lot of factors, so had to be observed in hospital for a couple of days and medicated. Hope he gets well soon. Sigh...thank goodness I'm not in sailing anymore...just now dad was lecturing my bro on a couple of things which were true lah....but somehow he just dosen't get it in his head. Hope he sits down and think about it.

money the root of all evil?

a lot of times, your best isn't good enough.
a lot of times, your actions are not appreciated.
a lot of times, people don't see the hard work you've put in.

So how do I lift my head up high and continue walking?
